Verizon 5G Home Internet

Introducing Verizon 5G home internet:

Verizon 5G Home Internet is the latest addition to Verizon’s suite of home internet services. This high-speed service provides users with download speeds up to 1,000 megabits per second, and upload speeds up to 500 megabits per second. The service is available in select markets now and will be increasing its footprint by the end of the year.

Verizon 5g Home Internet: Plenty Fast For Phones, But What About Your Home?

Verizon has invested a large amount of capital in acquiring millimeter wave spectrum and c band spectrum. Verizon thought this would give them an edge by getting the super high speeds that everyone expected with 5G. Unfortunately, that millimeter wave spectrum turned out to be a false start. Though it delivered massive multi-gigabit speeds, it was restricted to just a few locations within a few cities or just on a few blocks or a single stadium. Verizon took some time to soul search and rethought its 5G strategy. Now they’re back leveraging the millimeter deployment that they have and their c band spectrum to deliver home Internet to fixed locations where they can guarantee service.

Verizon 5g Home Internet Speeds:

Boasting speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second Verizons 5G Home Internet gives traditional Internet services providers a run for their money. The service uses advanced 5G technology to deliver a connection with better reliability, low latency, and faster than typical fiber connections. With speeds like this, you can stream high-definition videos in real-time and enjoy high-quality, low latency gaming. In the real world, if you’re located in one of Verizon’s millimeter wave spectrum deployment areas, you can reasonably expect to hit that 1000Mb per second. However, since Verizon’s deployment of their millimeter-wave spectrum is so small most of the time, you’ll be falling back to 5G on LTE, which though fast, usually averages real-world performance of around 100 plus megabits per second. It should be noted that the download and upload are not symmetrical. The upload is asymmetrical and far more limited than the download. You can reasonably expect 20 Megabits upload or less, a far cry from the near gigabit down this service can deliver, but that’s to be expected with fixed wireless service in general.

Verizon 5G Home Internet Pricing

The Price Is The Price, Guaranteed:

To that end, Verizon has two home Internet broadband plans available when you go ahead and sign up for their fixed Internet service. The 5G home plan starts at $25 a month, offering access to 5G ultra-wideband high-speed downloads and a two-year price guarantee. Or the 5G home plus plan at $35 per month also powered by 5G ultra-wideband with high-speed download and a 3-year price guarantee. If you think those two plans sound exactly the same, you would be correct, except that the 5G home plus plan can go up to 1000 Megabytes per second, whereas the 5G home plan can go to about 300Mb per second and caps out after that.

It’s all about the fine print for Verizon’s 5g Home Internet Plans:

On the bright side, both the 5G home plan and the 5G home plus plan are in their own unique data plan category, and they are unlimited. Pricing for the 5G home plan is $25 a month with auto pay, and the 5G home plus plan is $35 a month with auto pay, Provided you already have a phone plan with Verizon; otherwise, it would be $60 a month for the 5G home plan or $80 a month for the 5G Holden plan plus.

Final Thoughts: Should You Switch To Verizon Internet?

Verizon 5g Home Internet is plenty fast for phones, but what about your home? That’s the question we set out to find at the beginning. As with most things, it’s nuanced; your experience with Verizon 5g Home Internet may vary based on the make and model of the provided Verizon 5G home router. Other obstructions may also impact performance, such as trees or other obstacles affecting performance between you and the tower. But if you have a good line of sight to a tower and you are in Verizon’s service area, you may find that Verizon’s 5G Home internet is plenty fast for most people’s needs. If you have a lot of devices connected to your home network or you are a heavy user of streaming services, you may need more speed.
